The Republic of Burkina-Faso is an independent state in West Africa previously named Upper Volta. It is bounded  on the north and west by Mali, on the north and east by Niger and on the south by Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Benin. Formerly a member of the French Community. An Associate Member of the European Union (EU) and a member of ECOWAS.
